The Milgram Experiment

"The Milgram Experiment" by Saul McLeod

Is an article about one of the most famous studies of obedience in psychology. Stanely Milgram's experiment was to look at how far ordinary people will go to obey authority.
During the experiment , the teacher was told to administer an electric shock every time the learner made a mistake. The learner purposely gave mainly wrong answers and for each wrong answer the teacher was to give him an electric shock. When the teacher refused to shock the learner , they were given orders ( called prods ) to encourage them to continue.

I think this experiment was a success in examining peoples willingness to obey authority. It got my thinking about how people whether people will do what they believe is right or will they go as far as they are forced to  to obey an order. Stanely Milgram had the conclusion that " Ordinary people are likely to follow orders given by an authority figure, even to the extent of killing another human being "
